Nicolas Claris

Portrait of Nicolas Claris

Nicolas Claris grew up in Cannes, in the Suquet neighborhood, next to the fishing port and the Palais des Festivals. This unique setting nurtured his deep respect for the sea, sailors, and the world of imagery. He was a boatbuilder and sailed the Mediterranean and the Caribbean in the 1970s and 1980s, before heading his own communications agency dedicated to the nautical industry.
His passion for photography developed through rigorous technical mastery and a strong artistic culture. In 1974, after working with fashion photographer Henri Heiderscheid, he chose the sea. He became a professional photographer in 2000, a pioneer of digital photography in the marine sector. His style is defined by precision, attentive listening to his clients and constant curiosity. He became an international reference in yacht interior photography, but quickly broadened his scope: architecture (notably Bordeaux châteaux) and food staging for a Michelin-starred chef. This eclecticism feeds an "altruistic" approach, where the photographer steps back behind the subject to reveal it more fully.
Commissioned by shipyards, architects, charter agencies and magazines, his work remains true to his desire to magnify the world of yachting in all its dimensions.
His photographic signature is marked by exigency, light and the decisive moment. He seeks what he calls "the blue note": that suspended moment when reality becomes beauty. His work, whether editorial, commercial or artistic, is always at the service of the subject. To magnify without deceiving. He has been a member of the Union des Photographes Professionnels, an administrator at the Fédération Française des Industries Nautiques, a member of the International Superyacht Society, and a Pentax ambassador for more than 12 years.

Portrait of Romain Claris

Romain Claris has established himself as an essential filmmaker in the luxury yachting world, thanks to his complete mastery of audiovisual creation and perfect understanding of the sector's demands.
Born in Cannes in 1983, he developed a passion for imagery during his teenage years, which led him to study at the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français, from which he graduated in 2005.
He then founded the video department of Claris Image Builder agency, where he conceived and directed nearly 500 films, primarily for prestigious brands with a strong specialization in yachting.
He focuses on translating each brand's identity into images, adapting each production to the specifics of the boat, the shipyard and the target audience.
Versatile, Romain Claris fills all key roles on a film: director, cameraman, Steadicam operator, editor, composer. This integrated approach guarantees the consistency and quality of his productions.
Alongside his work in yachting, he develops a personal body of work, regularly awarded at international festivals.
More than a hundred selections and prizes have honored this creativity: best experimental film in Amsterdam, Best Artistic Direction at the Five Continents International Film Festival, best animated short film in Rome, best poetry film in Porto, and several dozen others. These awards confirm international recognition of his talent beyond the commercial sphere. But it is in yachting that Romain Claris has built his reputation: his name is associated with powerful, elegant images perfectly calibrated for the maritime luxury sector.
His hallmark: the ability to capture a yacht's spirit, attention to detail, fluid storytelling, and loyalty to his clients' identity, which earns him renewed trust year after year.
Romain Claris is also committed to education and transmission, notably through the Bordeaux Shorts Biennale, which he co-directs to promote the short film format.
Combining professional exigency and creativity, he is today a benchmark in video applied to prestige yachting.
