Until I left in 2019, I consistently entrusted the creation of imagery for all one-off and custom-series monohulls from 60 to 117 feet built by CNB (Construction Navale Bordeaux) to Nicolas Claris for photography (since 2000) and to Romain Claris for video (since 2005).

Beyond the technical excellence of Nicolas and Romain Claris’s work, what we especially appreciate is how they take full ownership of our requests, adapting according to the subject and truly understanding our DNA, producing photos and films aligned with our expectations. What I especially love is the freshness and spontaneity in their images — not the perfect balance that often feels boring, but the “just right” imbalance that brings things to life. I like photos that offer multiple layers of interpretation — as we say in medical science: a delay. We learn to savor slowly, to be careful to pay attention, so that we discover what we hadn’t yet seen… but was always there.

You did an amazing job during the Lagoon 630 Motor Yacht shoot. These images are some of the best I’ve ever worked with for Yachting magazine. The only problem? Yachts are always a challenge to photograph: tight spaces, weather conditions, and in the case of Chrisco, all the subtle variations in white textures. Nicolas and Romain Claris brought their full experience to highlight Wetzels Brown Partners' core design vision: the richness of texture within a single color. The symmetrical composition of the photos perfectly reflects Chrisco’s balanced design.

Space, comfort, sobriety, timelessness, customization — the interior architecture of the Bordeaux 60 offers a harmonious living area filled with serenity. But how can we convey these sensations to those who can’t step on board — except through high-quality visuals, precise lighting, and exceptional definition?

In 2000 digital pictures came out. And the evidence, too.
Then Nicolas Claris went out to take a few pictures.
Without groping, without pretension, without hesitation, without fear, without vanity, without a doubt. With talent, with knowledge, with pleasure, with creativity, with seriousness, with jubilation too. Perfectionists amaze me or get on my nerves. With Nicolas Claris, I found out one could eventually like them!
On his pictures, one can read a true concentration toward the subject, a real will to embellish it, an unquestionable envy to approach it. The sharpness, the brightness, the balance, all show an immense love. In the originality, in the unexpected, in the points of views, lie a raising pleasure.
But the work never shows; that is all the force of his photos, that are never violent, always alive, where from emanates the serenity of those artists who know.
He is a perfectionist.
But un unpredictable perfectionist makes it all different!
